Fall Gardening When Its 90 Degrees Outside
Living in Texas (Zone 9a) has its advantages -- mild winters and its disadvantages -- hot, humid summers. Yesterday we had lovely rain and I used that time to plant some fall crops: kale, beans, tomatoes, beets, carrots, and spinach. My summer crops are still going. My okra is finally producing and my summer peas are sending vines all over the place. I lost my sugar baby watermelons, but 3 of my Orangelo watermelons are going strong.
I can't wait for fall to get here and give us some relief from these high temps and humidity.
Its been hard to garden since my rat terrier Gypsy died in May. She was my constant companion and 'helped' with all gardening tasks. This is the time I would start planting peas just for her to eat.
